The owner of a gay venue that expressed criticism of the Hamilton Pride organising team for ignoring his business has since had his venue added as a last minute addition to the programme. GuyZ Sauna Owner of GuyZ Sauna, Marc McKenna, says that he met with the Pride organisers last Monday to discuss his concerns and the meeting resulted in the addition of a last minute event to be held at his venue. McKenna says the event ‘The Pride Thursday Discount Sauna Day’ was a “great success” with numbers to the event among the highest of all Pride events. "It was one of our busiest days ever and the Pride Butt Naked Party later that night was packed out with people having to be turned away,” he says. McKenna took over the business last year after the death of previous owner Gavin Sloane. GuyZ first opened in 2005 and has recently undergone an extensive refit, which he was interested in showing off. “It was great to see so many new faces checking out the new GuyZ, and showing their support for Pride and gay venue owners,” says McKenna. "I accept that this has been a misunderstanding and I am pleased that a Pride sponsored event at GuyZ was such a success. It will definitely be a popular part of Hamilton Pride 2017"
