Replacement sought for departed parade producer

Sat 17 Sep 2016 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

The Auckland Pride Parade is looking for a new parade producer after the departure of this year's producer, Nick Davion.  Davion, who instituted several changes last year including reversing the direction of the parade, starting it at an earlier time and creating a fair atmosphere at the end of the parade, was to have been available to create next February's parade. However Auckland Pride has released him from his contract for this year to enable him to take up another opportunity. "Nick was offered an event managing role in Turkmenistan," says Pride co-chair Kristen Sibbit, but Davion says he is available to help with a handover to a new producer. Auckland Pride describes the job as requiring the skills of an experienced cat-herder with a cool head. "Can you build a strong team that will support you to the end? Can you throw a good party, on the road, with loud music and drag queens – and not upset the neighbours?" Applications close at 5pm this Monday.
