Tens of thousands of people took to the streets in a Mexican city over the weekend to protest a proposed marriage equality law and were met by a 12-year-old boy who stood in front of the oncoming crowd begging them to stop. Speaking to journalist and photographer Manuel Rodriguez after the rally, the boy said “I have an uncle who is gay and I hate that people hate”. Following the anti-marriage equality protests, the very next day thousands took to the streets to show their support for marriage equality. Same-sex marriage is currently legal in Mexico City, Coahuila, Quintana Roo, Jalisco, Nayarit, Chihuahua, Chiapas and Sonora.
