Over $1500 was raised for the Cartier Trust at the Wigarama fundraising event on Saturday in Auckland.   Photo by Andrea With the funds counted and the calculations made this evening, the total has come in at $1625, $300 of which was raised from the raffle of two opening night Pricilla Queen of the Desert tickets, kindly donated by Grady Elliot of Family Bar. Founder and Trustee of the Trust, Karen Richie says she would like to thank the door staff, Paul, Moana and Tim who gave there time at short notice. “They did a wonderful job on the door.” She says “As Trustees, we can’t thank the entertainers, and the people that came along, we can’t thank them enough. Without them, the Trust wouldn’t exist.” The Cartier Trust will be hosting a film screening evening with Body Positive and Positive Women around the time of this year’s World Aids Day. “It’s a movie to take us back in time to the 8-s and 90s when people died and they didn’t have a choice, they didn’t know what they were dealing with and by the time they knew what they were dealing with, it was too late.” The screening will be free for everyone and Richie says she really encourages all community to come. “It’s not just about if you’re HIV positive, it’s for all communities, more so the community so they can see what it was like and yes it will be emotional, and lets not forget what these people went through. Please don’t be complacent.”
