Wellington will be treated to a night of fun, dancing and spectacular performances by local takatāpui and queer community tomorrow night. Part of a fundraising week for Tiwhanawhana, the event is a collaboration between Tiwhanawhana and DANSS. Tiwhanawhana is a takatāpui community group that welcomes people of diverse sexualities and gender identity aiming to build the the takatāpui community, tell its stories and leave behind an inspiring legacy. Based in Wellington, it has harnessed kapa haka, advice, advocacy and support of the LGBTI community to do its work over the past 15 years. DANSS is a group that was established in 1998 after a group of Wellington dancers attended the Gay Games in Amsterdam, it aims to promote same-sex dancing and brings together people to enjoy Latin and Ballroom dancing. Saturday night’s Glitter Haka Ratzi Dance Extravaganza is part of Tiwhanawhana’s first ever fundraising effort and is a chance to support the amazing community work they do. Saturday 10 September, doors open at 6pm, Pōwhiri at 6.30pm $10 on the door which includes kai, all welcome. Thistle Hall Gallery Wellington
