If it's happening at Gay Ski Week QT Miss Ribena not only knows about it she knows who did it and with whom and why and where. Not much escapes the Family bar hostess who's down in Queenstown for her annual romp under the Remarkables. "Celebrities everywhere darling, she tells our reporter in the warmth of her Novotel boudoir. "There's a MKR celebrity chef here with his mum and she's a hoot. Very glam, she's been to every every event... she's a great dancer and a damned good singer too. The pair were judges at the karaoke competition night and she could have won it all by herself!" Speaking TV celebrities, "Stefano Oliviero of Dancing with the Stars has also been seen at every event but not looking as glamorous as he'd like... the poor dear left his brightly sequined and rhinestoned jacket, the one he sported at the last Auckland Pride Festival, back in the Queens' City. He's inconsolable, quite distressed... though he's so handsome and sexy there are plenty of men in town who would jump at the chance to offer succour." Speaking of Queens, song of the week has to be a tie between Dancing Queen and YMCA. "Four dykes on bikes who're over from north of Sydney absolutely stole the karaoke contest... amazing singers, much better than those old Abba hacks. And YMCA keeps popping up too. At he boat party all the shirts came off, the music was fabulous and when the DJ played YMCA every person on the boat seemed to know all the words and most of the dance moves." YMCA also featured prominently at the Trivia Night. Ribena estimates around 80% of those in town for Gay Ski Week QT are Aussies and she's probably right. "They're everywhere darling and most of them are soooo gorgeous. Lots of real sexy, hot, butch men, just my type, mostly aged between 40 and 60, no distracting little twinks!" But one younger male couple in town from Sydney, "actually from Surry Hills which is about as gay as you can get!," are building up to their wedding on Sunday after six years of living in sin cross the ditch. They've been spotted around town in a bridal dress and suit with matching tiara. "So sweet!" Marriage is a popular subject everywhere you go. "Anytime anyone mentions same-sex marriage the place erupts," laughs Ribena. "It's such a shame all those Aussie brothers and sisters of ours are still being treated like dirt by their own governments. Shame on you Australia!" Grinder and Tinder must be in meltdown here, she laughs. "So many gay boys swiping this way and that way and pairing off. And I can tell you for sure there are quite a few non-gay chaps getting in on a little experimental action too!" Has Ribena found the man of her dreams yet? "Yes darling, yes, yes yes... I can't say too much but he's Brazillian, he works here at the hotel and he's just stunning. Everyone's got their eyes on him but if I hear anyone's been there before me there'll be hell to pay. You have all been warned!" It's getting towards midday and it's time Ribena headed out into the Rainbow-coloured streets, probably to her favourite restaurant, Devil Burger, across the street. "It's the place to eat but stay away from my window seat darling, I want the best view of the passing trade. And of course there's nothing better than getting your mouth around big juicy hunks of meat!" - 2nd September 2016
