First days of GSWQT a huge success

Mon 29 Aug 2016 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Gay Ski Week QT kicked off on Saturday with opening party like none that have come before it.   The Gay Ski Week QT opening party was a huge success Organiser Sally Whitewoods says the sold-out party was “huge” and “probably the biggest one yet”. With 350 partying throughout the night, Whitewoods says “Everyone was there meeting with old friends and making new friends.” Last night’s Anchor’s Away boat party, which was the first of it’s kind for Gay Ski Week QT, was “so much fun” with DJ Adam Love keeping the party going for two hours out on the water. Today saw Gay Ski Week’s first ever drag race on the mountain, with 16 people hitting the slopes dolled up to the nines and around 60 people cheering them on. In the end it was Auckland’s Wayne Goodman who took out the race. This afternoon's ski cam image from at Coronet Peak With a large number of the events already sold out, including the quiz night and comedy night, and the cabaret night almost sold out, Whitewoods says you’ll need to get in quick to avoid disappointment. Tomorrow nights free-entry Leather and Lace party has had a last-minute change of venue, scheduled for The London, the party will now held at Bar Up. With the snow looking amazing, the sun is set to shine for the rest of the week - with only a few clouds here and there - there’ll be a high of between 3 and 6 degrees celsius so make sure to wrap up warm.
