The new Festival Director of the Auckland Pride Festival says his return to the position allows him to use his talents to give back to the community. Cook is “absolutely excited” to return to the Auckland Pride Festival as the Festival Director, a position he held in 2013 and 2014, before resigning amidst claims of poor and unilateral decision making by the board at the time. He says “The Festival Directors job is really the job that allows me to combine my unusual and unique set of skills and experiences to make the best difference for the largest amount of people in our community.” With the success of a huge number of LGBTI events under his belt, Cook says he will now undertake some analysis and consultation before starting to build the 2017 festival programme.
