WikiLeaks outs gay Saudi men, endangering safety

Thu 25 Aug 2016 In: International News View at Wayback View at NDHA

WikiLeaks has outed gay men in Saudi Arabia - a country in which homosexuality is punishable by death - by publishing government data online. WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange The Whistleblower organisation has been found to, in the past, and on more than one occasion, jeopardise the safety of gay men in Saudi Arabia by publishing online personal medical records of gay men and even the name, address and phone number of a citizen who was arrested for being gay. The Associated Press has found that this information also included the details of at least two young men who were raped by other men. Homosexuality is illegal in Saudi Arabia and is punishable by imprisonment, flogging or death. WikiLeaks is censored in the country.
