Hamilton Pride kicks off on the 9th September with an all-inclusive and all-ages launch party at The Meteor full of fabulous entertainment including Hamilton’s very own Kellie Kelly and the Auckland drag queen who knows a thing or two about outrageous celebrations, Miss Ribena. Throughout the week there’s a range of events to keep you entertained, check out the rundown below: 10-Pin Bowling Grab a few friends and get ready to throw a ball or two down the lane - this Pride festival, 10-pin bowling is on the lineup and things are getting slightly competitive. Saturday 10 Sep, 6pm Skycity Bowlevard Wine Tasting Fancy trying some of the finest local wines on your Saturday evening? Mystery Creek Wines are hosting a free wine tasting evening, so prepare your palette - you’ll be treated to a variety of tastes throughout the night. Saturday 10 Sep, 8pm Momento City Doggy Day Out One for the furry friends in your life - and know we’re not talking about all of you fabulous bears! They say dogs are a man’s best friend, so why not bring your pup to Pride? Sunday 11 Sep, 10am Hamilton Lake Domain Love ur body We all know that body products are full of nasty chemicals that aren’t exactly the best thing to lather ourselves in. Head along to Love ur Body for an evening making natural products in a hands on workshop. Monday 12 Sep, 5.30pm Celebrating Age Centre HIV workshop LYC are giving you the lowdown on HIV so you can feel informed and comfortable discussing risk and HIV. Monday 12 Sep, 7pm Celebrating Age Centre Ass Class A free session covering the basics of anal health, what’s good practice and what’s risky. The information will be presented in a practical and useful way men can use in their sexual practice. Expect a few laughs. Tuesday 13 Sep, 7pm Celebrating Age Centre MooVie Night OUT They say winter is the best time to tuck up for a night of movies so why not make the most of it during Pride? Cost is $10 cash on the door and includes Pizza / Drinks and the movie. Thursday 6 September, 6pm Hamilton Museum Women’s Quiz and Rugby Night One for the rugby fans out there, if you don’t have tickets for the game, head down to Diggers back bar and check out the game while you brush up on your general knowledge. Head down as a team or turn up and join one. Saturday 10 September 6.30pm Diggers Bar Pony Ride! Saddle up for a two hour trek over farm land and up Mt Karioi where you will see wonderful views of the beach, ocean and rolling valleys. 2 groups of 6, $95pp, first group will start at 12.30. First in first served Saturday 11 Sep, 12.30pm Wildcoast Ruapuke Horse Adventures Another conversation Conversations about sexuality and faith are not too common so get together for an evening exploring what happens when young people take pride in who they are. Hear the stories of young people and then those of parents, religious leaders and teachers sharing their responses. Wednesday 14 Sep, 7pm Anglican Action Pride and Protest Poetry Slam The thirty year anniversary of Homosexual Law Reform is the perfect occasion to celebrate pride and reason to protest injustices. Cost is $5 cash on the door Thursday 15 Sep, 7.30pm Nivara Lounge Family Divercity Day One for the families out there. With a bouncy castle, candle dipping, facepainting and other cool activities, this one is bound to keep the kids - and young at heart - entertained for the day.
