The transgender ball that was to be held in Auckland this October has been postponed because the Charitable Trust organising the ball missed crucial funding rounds for 2016. Tāhine Aotearoa Trans-Pacifica Charitable Trust has announced last week that the ball, due to be held at SkyCity, “has been postponed to a later date in 2017”. In a press release regarding the postponement, the Trustees write that they “see this as a favorable move, which will allow us to meet the new funding application rounds for 2017.” Adding, “The move also allows us to continue laying a more robust foundation to maintain the integrity and purpose of the Transgender Ball.” Earlier this month a member of the Trust spoke out asking people to forgive them for their silence as the Trust were “going through some legal matters and finalising paperwork to make sure we are legit and running smoothly as a trustworthy and legitimate organization.” They said that they prefer to doing things the right way. They say a full refund will be made to all of those who have already purchased tickets. GayNZ.com Daily News has contacted the Trust for more details but has not yet had a response.
