Carrying banners that read things such as “let’s fight for our survival”, the protesters called for justice and for the people of Turkey to condemn the murder as they had condemned the death of Ozgecan Aslan, a young woman who was murdered in 2015. Her death caused thousands of protesters to take to the streets to speak out against the governments failure to respond to the rising violence against women.
