Chch writers fest event to raise funds for LGBTI youth

An event at next week’s WORD Christchurch Writers and Readers Festival will raise funds for LGBTI youth organisation, Q-topia, helping them to continue advocacy, support and education work with LGBTI youth. Canadian writer Ivan E. Coyote The event, Speaking Proud, features readings from legendary international writers Ivan E. Coyote and David Levithan, along with performances from Christchurch poets Kimberley Holmes, Isla Martin, and Sophie Rea. Over 100 national and international speakers will head to Christchurch for four days to explore the theme of this year’s festival, ’Planet and People’. Koha entry, all proceeds on the night will go directly to Q-topia. Speaking Proud Thursday 25 August, 6pm COC, Ground Floor
