A former star of the long-running Coronation Street TV soap has admitted she was "terrified" at the effect coming out would have on her career. I wanted it off my chest.” Barrie as Cleopatara in Carry On Cleo, with Sid James Barrie has appeared in other series including Holby City and Bad Girls in a career which even includes early work in the Carry On movie series. She has recently featured in a new series of the TV comedy Benidorm, featuring as 'Psychic Sue.' In 2014 she married her partner, crime writer Hilary Bonner.
