Linda Villumsen has finished in 23rd place in the Olympics women’s road race this morning [NZT]. Linda Villumsen A serious crash left the Dutch cyclist who was leading the pack, Annemiek van Vleuten, reportedly in intensive care after she flew head first over her handlebars and into the kerb. New Zealand’s Villumsen was an early leader in the race however finished five minutes behind those who crossed the finish line first. Her time was 3:56:34. Villumsen has been picked to be a gold medal contender and will be competing in the women's time trials on Wednesday.
