Photo: Associated Press Despite an injury that sent her off in the team’s first game against the US, lesbian player Katie Duncan was back on the field. Captain Abby Erceg was red carded during the match, referee Gladys Lengwe from Zambia sent her off after she and a Colombian attacker briefly got their arms tangled and the Colombian player fell to the ground on the edge of the box. The resulting free kick was saved by Goalkeeper Erin Naylor. The Ferns will be playing the French, who rank world number 3, without their Captain in their final group match.
