Wed 3 Aug 2016 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Lexie Matheson has been announced as the newest addition to the Auckland Pride Festival Board.   Lexie Matheson, second from left, with members of the Auckland Pride Festival Board. Matheson had previously resigned from a position on the Board in November 2014 following the resignation of the Festival Director at the time, Julian Cook. At the time she stated that she had been at odds with Board members regarding the direction and the decision it made not to speak out on important matters. Matheson is a university lecturer in events, project and arts management and is well-known in the Auckland LGBTI community. This year she was made an Officer of the New Zealand order of Merit for her services to performing arts, education and LGBTI rights. Her community roles have included stints as Chair of the Hero Inc. Board and the Auckland Coordinator for Agender. She's also a TransAdvocates trustee and was a founding member of Auckland Pride Festival Inc.
