FB page deleted after distancing itself from gang

Thu 28 Jul 2016 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

As quickly as it appeared, the satirical Facebook page claiming to be the rainbow chapter of New Zealand’s Mongrel Mob gang has disappeared.   This photoshopped image of a man attending NYC Pride 2011 was shared thousands of times on Facebook The page appeared to be set up by someone or a group of people outside of the LGBTI community and received backlash from people claiming to be affiliated with The Mongrel Mob because of the page’s blatant lack of respect for the gang. After posting that they were dropping affiliation with the Mongrel Mob, making reference to the threats they were receiving, within hours the page was deleted.
