The HLR30 Pride Committee is celebrating the anniversary of homosexual law reform and throwing the prom you could never had had 30 years ago. A fairy tale gala dinner and dance at the Rydges Hotel with special guests and presentations to honour and remember those who campaigned 30 years ago to help pass the reform into law, this will certainly be a night to remember. “Guests should expect a night of glitz and glamour, remembering the struggle for rights but also acknowledging how far we have come and looking forward to the future.” says organiser Aaron Comis. “It's a celebration of community and chance to come together and dress up.” Guest speakers include HLR activist and strategist Bill Logan and dust off your fancy tux and those glitter oxfords you keep for special occasions because with the dress code being Formal and Fabulous, you’ll want to dress to impress. The HLR30 Pride committee is a joint effort from Christchurch Pride, Pink Health Otautahi, UpRising Trust, Q-topia, New Zealand AIDS Foundation, Q-Canterbury, TraNZaction and Kindred formed for the purpose of commemorating the 30 year anniversary of the Homosexual Law Reform in Christchurch. Tickets include a complimentary glass of bubbles on arrival and a two course meal, it will also include entry to the dance that will follow the formal dinner. You can grab yourself a combo ticket or a ticket for only the dance portion of the night but note that tickets to the dinner are limited. Tickets can be purchased online from http://www.chchpride.co.nz/events or in person (cash only) at NZAF, 185 Peterborough St, Christchurch or Fusion Hair, 6 Opawa Rd, Christchurch.
