Auckland Zinefest is hosting a panel discussion exploring trans activism and representation in media The panel will discuss how representation as activism, social media, independent publishing have become invaluable tools in working for equal rights of trans people. Aram Wu, Emmy Rākete , Cole Meyers, and Sophie Labelle will discuss and share experiences from their areas of work and the event will be chaired by Sam Orchard. Aram Wu is the co-founder of EquAsian and a member of the Auckland Council Rainbow Communities Advisory Panel, they will be joined by Emmy Rākete who is the organiser and spokesperson for No Pride in Prisons and Tangata Whenua representative to the Rainbow Youth board of executives, Cole Meyers who is a writer, actor, director, artist and activist, involved with Breaking Boundaries and But Different LGBTI Writer's Festival and Sophie Labelle, a trans activist from Montréal and the artist behind the popular and internationally known Assigned Male Comics.
