Helen Clark The organisers of this Saturday's grand gala in Auckland to mark thirty years since the passing of the Homosexual Law Reform Bill have confirmed a video recorded by ex-Prime Minister Helen Clark will feature at the event. Clark's UN office had questioned a statement by Rainbow Auckland that Clark, who as an MP voted for the legislative change that freed homosexual men from being jailed for intimacy, would be appearing via a video, saying she had no time set aside for it. However, a spokesperson for Rainbow Auckland, which used to be called GABA, says the video has already been recorded and will be played as planned. "We can confirm that Helen Clark has made a video recording," the spokesperson says. "It would appear to just be a simple misunderstanding that Ms Clarke would be doing a live message, rather than a recorded one, so that could be why her spokesperson was uninformed." The gala event, which will include a dance until 3am will be held at Skycity Convention Centre and will feature a line-up of entertainers and glbti notables, with media celebs Alison Mau and Colin Mathura-Jeffree co-MCing. Information and tickets for the event are available here.
