LGBTI youth leader to make a World of Difference

Fri 1 Jul 2016 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

A LGBTI community leader has been announced as one of two 2016 - 2017 World of Difference Fellowship recipients.   Stace Robertson has been announced as a Vodafone World of Difference Fellowship recipient for 2016-2017 alongside Deirdre Otene. Robertson will be working with the Intersex Trust Aotearoa New Zealand and will be focusing his Fellowship year on developing an accessible web-based, print and multimedia resource which will increase visibility for marginalised and less visible rainbow youth with diverse intersectional experiences of disability, sex, gender, or culture. “There is almost no representation for people with intersectional identities or experiences. The LGBTTIQA community is very good at holding space for those with diverse sexualities, sexes and genders, but sometimes don’t make visible or celebrate people who are marginalised in other ways. People don’t fit into neat boxes, people are made up of lots of boxes which need support,” says Robertson. Robertson will receive $90,000 to help achieve better outcomes for New Zealand youth.
