Lack of snow “not a worry” for Gay Ski Week

Thu 30 Jun 2016 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

In just under two months hundreds of people will make their way to Queenstown for the largest gay and lesbian winter pride event in the Southern hemisphere, Gay Ski Week. Gay Ski Week's Sally Whitewoods with some of the guys at GSWQT 14 Coronet Peak in Queenstown has had a severe lack of snow this season and the Queenstown Winter Festival has had to move venues but Gay Ski Week co-organiser Sally Whitewoods says people thinking of heading down for the Gay Ski Week needn’t worry. “The snowfall is not a worry to us at all. The snow will come and there is a reason we hold off towards the beginning of Spring as the snow is consistent during this time.” Whitewoods says that three or four years ago there was also very little snow at the beginning of the season “but as always, we were fine for Gay Ski Week”.
