$1500 was raised at the Urge for Orlando and OUTLine fundraiser on Saturday night With over 160 people turning up to show their support for the victims of the Orlando nightclub shooting and the New Zealand LGBTI organisation OUTLine, $1189 was raised on the night by OUTLine volunteers and $300 kindly donated by Paul and Alan from Urge Events. With help from AdamArnold Cafe and Restaurant, Basement Club and Shop, Blue Rose Cafe, Caluzzi, Marcellos Cafe, Mike Bancroft, Specsavers, Vinny’s Barbers and Richard Kittelty, there was a range of prizes on the night. “The Falcons Rugby team manned the cloak room and also donated the funds raised to the Orlando Victims and OUTLine event,” says co-organiser Paul Heard. “This was especially unexpected as they are trying to raise money to get to Australia to defend the Purchas Cup.” DJs on the night were Adam Crozier, James Leuli and Antony, with Kita Mean performing Rocky Horror’s Sweet Transvestite for the crowd.
