The Samoan Faafafine Association has this morning held a March to End Indifference and Ignorance in the memory of Jeanine Tuivaiki. Jeanine Tuivaiki The march took place at 4.30am local time in Apia and a crowd gathered at the clock tower to remember Tuivaiki. People carried candles and held signs that read things like “We march because… everyone matters!”. Jeanine Tuivaiki was found dead a little over a week ago and the media reporting of her death has caused outrage. The Samoan Observer printed a horrific photo of the incident on their front page and referred to Tuivaiki using male pronouns. The Samoan Prime Minister has branded the Samoa Observer's front page printing of the photo as insensitive, unethical, gruesome and callous.
