Homophobic church group denied charitable status

Logan Robertson A small fundamentalist Baptist church group whose pastor admitted praying for a gay man to commit suicide applied for but was denied tax-exempt status. The Auckland-based church is suspected of having had few members other that its Pastor, Logan Robertson, and a few family members or friends. Iin 2014 Robertson told gay Christian author Jim Marjoram "I pray that you will commit suicide, you filthy fag" and "We are not interested in your filthy lifestyle or book. The Bible says you are vile, strange (queer), reprobate, filth, sodomite, natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed." An Official Information Act request by the Sunday Star Times reveals Robertson made a request to the Internal Affairs Charities Service for charitable status. He has told the SST he attached the wording of the entire Bible to his application. "They didn't like that."
