Sat 18 Jun 2016 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

A memorial service for the victims of the Orlando mass shooting at the Pulse gay nightclub will be held in Auckland tomorrow evening. The Auckland Rainbow Community Church, supported by St Matthew-in-the-City, are holding the 7.30pm Sunday service which will include the reading of the names of those killed and lighting a candle for each person who died. As part of the service a message of hope in the form of a banner will be composed, to be sent to Orlando. “After Orlando: Gay Love”, a poem by Carol Ann Duffy will be read and John Lennon's “Imagine” will be sung. “ARCC and St Matthew's want to stand in solidarity with those affected by the terrible events of 19 June in Orlando, Florida,” says a spokesperson for the ARCC.
