La Madame gay bar in Xalapa, posted a message on Instagram expressing their shock and heartbreak shortly after the shooting at the bar in which a group of gunman killed at least 7 and as many as 15 people. On 22 May armed gunmen stormed the bar and sprayed bullets into a crowd of 200. Madame was open for seven years and has since closed permanently. Their last Instagram post is a message to loyal customers confirming the shooting and expressing their shock at the events that unfolded. “We were victims of an attack , it could have happened to anyone. Unfortunately, it happened to us,” they wrote. “We are shocked with what has happened and are going through a difficult time. We would like to ask for respect and sensitivity for all those involved, families and victims. “We are still awaiting for a full account of the facts, it only remains to keep calm and to support each other; unity will bring strength. “We are in the hands of God , we thank all our customers that have become family and friends to us over the seven years we have been open.
