John Key has said he will send a letter of condolence to President Obama and went on to say “but what a tragic and terrible day for America and for the gay community in America and what a terrifying act, I think, for Americans in general who, sadly have to wake up to stories like this where a person misuses a gun for whatever warped perspective that they have.” Speaking on NewsTalk ZB the Prime Minister said that in the past he has talked privately with President Obama about gun laws in the US and says the President feels “deeply frustrated” and has made his feelings on the matter clear publicly. The Prime Minister has not made any comments regarding the Orlando mass shooting on social media as yet, with his last posts on both Twitter and Facebook relating to the All Blacks vs Wales game on Saturday night. World leaders such as President Obama, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, UK Prime Minister David Cameron and the leaders of Italy, France, Afghanistan, Turkey and Israel are among those who have condemned the mass shooting.
