Tue 7 Jun 2016 In: International News View at Wayback

Roz Ward of Safe Schools Australia has returned to work, fist clenched in the air as she walked through a guard of honour.   Photo: Jason South Suspended by La Trobe University after being suspended for her comments on Facebook stating that the Australian flag is racist, Ward walked onto the campus as people held signs reading “We stand with Roz” and held blue and purple National Tertiary Education Union flags. The Age reports Ward telling her supporters "This is about more than me and my experiences, homophobia and transphobia are very much alive in young people's lives. "We are trying to do something about it, but there are a lot of people that are trying to stop us from doing that work.” The National Tertiary Education Union is considering taking legal action against the university, accusing them of tarnishing Ward’s reputation.
