Tinder will soon be more trans friendly

Sat 4 Jun 2016 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Tinder will soon roll out changes that will include more gender identities for people that identify outside of the gender binary; male or female.   Sean Rad, CEO of Tinder, confirmed that it will be working on filters that will specific more than male and female, in an attempt to make the app safer for trans people. Rad says “For a long time we haven’t done enough to give them a good experience. “It’s harder for them to get what they are looking for. We have to modify our experience to address that. It’s not only good for the Tinder community, but it’s the right thing to do for the world.” Tinder has in the past come under fire from trans groups who say that trans people are often abused or banned from the app after they are reported by people who were uncomfortable with the gender identity of the person they matched with. Tinder relies on community reports to decide when a person should be banned from the app.
