Fabulunch raises 4k for LGBTI youth

The Fabulunch event held yesterday in Wellington raised $4000 for LGBTI youth initiative OuterSpaces - the umbrella group for School’s Out, Naming NZ, Tranzform and the binder project.   The Sonrisa Trio Deb Ferrere, Heather Barnes, Jenni Bedford - Blu Virtue, Jac, Harli Lux, Indi Pendant, Kelly Fornia, Lilly Loud Mouth, and James. About 100 people attended the lunch at Portofino restaurant on the waterfront in Wellington and more than 20 organisations and community members donated a range of products and services including a $1000 hamper of make-up from JOYS of London. Artist Sian Torrington donated a framed artwork for the silent auction which was bought with a winning bid of $1,800. Community member Jenni Bedford's auction of a night trip for a group on her boat raised $520. Harli Lux, Blu Virtue, Indi Pendant, and Kelly Fornia gave excellent performances. The event was co-hosted by Lilly Loud Mouth and Fabulunch organiser Jac Lynch. The band, the Sonrisa Trio also supported with a range of songs. During the event, OuterSpaces representatives spoke about the diverse work they do with LGBTI young people in the Wellington region. Lynch says the lunch was “a great opportunity for the community to actively show their support and learn about the groups' mostly unfunded work.” The last Fabulunch in 2013 raised $3000 which helped School's Out move into their office in Evolve Youth Health Service.
