Mother lashes out at "rotten, ugly" murder victim

Wed 25 May 2016 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Beauen Wallace-Loretz In an expletive-laden Facebook conversation the mother of Beauen Wallace-Loretz has lashed out at the gay man her son was found guilty of murdering, calling him a "rotten, ugly" man who "did this to you." Wallace-Loretz and his close friend Leonard Nattrass-Bergquist were yesterday sentenced in the High Court at Auckland to life imprisonment with non-parole periods of eleven years and ten years nine months respectively after attacking Ihaia Gillman-Harris in an Epsom motel room in December 2014, stealing his money and car and leaving him so badly injured he died in hospital just hours later. During a trial by jury the defense claimed that the attack was spur of the moment and self-defense, brought on by an alleged violent sexual molestation of Nattrass-Bergquist in the motel. The crown said the attack and robbery were premeditated, planned by text message and in large part a response to Gillman-Harris propositioning at least one of the pair for paid sex. In a Facebook post yesterday Wallace-Loretz's mother, Amy Wallace, said: "FUCK FUCK FUCK ! MY SON you will be okay, im so sorry for the justice system of this country! And for that rotten ugly man crossing your path of your life and doing this to you! Your only a baby you now have a life sentence to do." During his sentencing yesterday, Justice Kit Toogood described Wallace-Loretz's upbringing as "appalling." Postings by others on the Facebook conversation include: "Fuck the law, and the muppets that run its show. Fuckn shortland street bullshit. They laugh at all of us. Calling us monkeys that keep them in a fuckn job," and "ur a fukn solid young man sux your having to live the repercations of our racist judgemental justice system mate u got alota hard supporters mate hang in their much love xxxxx"
