Auckland University’s student association is hosting a Pride Week next week, including its very own Mardi Gras party. The week, celebrating the LGBTI student community, has a line up of informative events designed to start discussions in the student community and a party to give everyone a chance to let loose. Events include a panel focusing on coming out, featuring HIV activist Charlie Tredway, Auckland University’s Tessa Naden, artist Tanu Gago, Proud to Play’s Craig Watson and Love Your Condom’s Paul Heard. There will also be a student forum looking at the “hidden sexualities” in the LGBTI communities that will offer students a chance to pass motions about things they would like AUSA to stand behind. Thursday night is the big night, with a Mardi Gras party featuring drag queens, glitter, a DJ and drink specials at the Auckland University bar shadows.
