Q-topia seeks help to send youth to lgbti hui

Fri 15 Apr 2016 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Q-topia is helping Canterbury youth attend the national LGBTI hui in Wellington, however with one week to go they are seeking help to raise the last remaining funds needed to get them there. A total cost of $300 per person is needed to get the eight Canterbury youth to Wellington for the hui, an amount which covers the cost of transport and the Hui registration fee. With Q-topia helping out with the costs of this and the young people themselves chipping in, there is currently a shortfall of $80 per person. Anne Nicholson of the LGBTI youth support group says “This experience will help [the young people] to learn more about our rainbow community, as well as connecting them with like-minded individuals. “The Hui will be filled with education sessions, activities to connect people and heaps of other learning opportunities.” The Shift Hui is run by Wellington based, national LGBTI support organisation, InsideOUT and is a national hui for young people of diverse sexualities, genders and their friends. Donations can be made into the Q-topia bank account with the reference 'hui'. The account name is Q-topia Incorporated and the account number is 031598-009238800-50
