Wellington’s annual gay men’s party is back next weekend and will feature international DJ Grant Cook as he makes his New Zealand debut. Urge Black is back for its fifth year in the capital, with a slight change of venue, moving from Ivy Bar’s covered car park to inside the main bar. Melbourne based DJ Grant Cook says he is looking forward to coming to New Zealand and playing a the party, "I'm really excited, and chuffed at the opportunity,” he says. “This will be my first time in NZ so I'm even more excited." Cook describes his musical style as covering the range from House to Techno, but nearly always with an emphasis on big fat basslines. "I love bass. But I have pretty vocal house in my collection as well as hard as f**k techno and acid, and a lot of shades between those extremes." Promoter Alan Granville says he is excited to team up with Ivy Bar and Love Your Condom, "We always get a great welcome from the crowd and we hope to keep the party fresh, and a bit naughty, every year." Tickets are on sale at Peaches
