Super laser display for Scandal party

Wed 19 Feb 2003 In: New Zealand Daily News

This Saturday's Hero Festival 2003 Scandal party will see the first use in New Zealand of a major new laser light generator. Party organiser Gray Tinley says he was able to work "a very good deal" to get the super-powerful UK-based Stealth generator, "which will produce some amazing effects." Big name lighting designer Paul Van Den Nieuwenhuysen will be designing and controlling the effects. Other entertainment includes two Buckwheat and De Zar Star-directed shows (at 1.30am and 4.30am) and the cream of New Zealand's gay DJs, including Donald Bennet, DJ Love, Mauri, Karl Moser, Rima Dave and James Leuii. All available spaces at Staircase on Karangahape Road will be utilised, says Tinley, who promises a “very gay” crowd as the event has not been advertised in the straight media. “This is about us claiming a space as our own and having a damn good time together” he says. Tinley says $35 tickets, available only at selected gay venues and outlets, are selling fast for the 1000-person maximum event.
