Voting for the next Mr Gay World is now open and you can help determine who will take out the 2016 title. Mr Gay NZ, Bernard Lee Mr Gay New Zealand, Bernard Lee is in the running this year alongside 21 other men from around the world. Born in Borneo, Lee moved to New Zealand in 2009 and is an active volunteer for Love Your Condom. In April last year GayNZ.com spoke to Lee after his Mr Gay Wellington win and he revealed that the former Mr Gay NZ had encouraged him to enter this year, “I was told there was no maybe, and that Matt might drag me up to Auckland in February 2016 for it.” Voting is now open on the Mr Gay World website and you can cast a new vote every 24 hours. In 2013 New Zealand’s very own Christopher Olwage was crowned Mr Gay World, following in the footsteps of Andreas Derleth who won the title in 2012. The current title holder is Mass Luciano who took over the title after Klaus Burkart resigned from the position in November. This year’s competition is being held in Malta from the 19-23 of April and contestants will have to undertake a variety of challenges including a sports challenge, photo challenge and a fashion show.
