Sat 12 Mar 2016 In: New Zealand Daily News

Following the recent sexual assault allegations made by a trans prisoner in a men’s prison in Whanganui, Gaynz.com Daily News inquired as to the status of allegations made in October from a trans prisoner in a Serco-run prison in Wiri, Auckland. On October 3 2015, a trans woman currently incarcerated at a men’s prison in Wiri, was allegedly raped by a cellmate while locked in overnight. The woman says she was taken out of protective segregation and when she was moved back into the general population, she was assaulted by seven men and then raped. Following up on these allegations, the Police say that the complaint is still under investigation and they will not be making any comment regarding this case at this time.
