Truscott bid for release turned down

Thu 16 Jan 2003 In: New Zealand Daily News

HIV positive gay man Christopher Truscott has had a request for release from detention turned down. The intellectually impaired Truscott was convicted in 1999 of criminal nuisance after engaging in unprotected sex without telling his partners of his HIV status. he is housed in a Christchurch public health facility but has absconded at least six times. His request for “home detention” based on an electronic monitoring device has been view as impractical and he will remain in supervised care indefinitely, or until health authorities judge him reformed enough to release.
