Israel hosted its first ever trans beauty pageant, with the finals being held in Tel Aviv this May. ***image1***Thirty trans women have entered the Miss Trans Israel pageant, including 21 year old Abu Hanna who is supported by her Catholic family. “I have something to give the people”, she says, “We are normal people. This is normal.” Organiser Israela Stephanie Lev told the Associated Press that Israel is changing in it’s views “Definitely we are achieving, enlightening the people to accept and empower transsexuals.” The winner of the pageant will go on to represent the country at the Trans Star pageant in Spain and compete for the prize of gender reassignment surgery.
