RainbowYOUTH launch new fundraising campaign

Wed 2 Mar 2016 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

RainbowYOUTH have launched a new fundraising campaign and are reaching out to the general public to help. The LGBTI youth support and advocacy organisation has launched a new campaign; ‘Unicorns Are Real! Lets Look After Them!’ making it simple for people to help out with fundraising efforts. Communications Manager Toni Duder says; “As RainbowYOUTH is a charity, we rely on donations from the public to help support the work we do. “With a lot of the funding we get from grants aimed at specific purposes, we still need to raise money to day-to-day costs of running our drop-in centre and support services.” Anyone wanting to get involved will be sent a pack of rainbow ribbons to sell and all of the information they need to know about how to do that, a gold coin donation box allows people to be as active as they wish. “Our ribbons have always been a highlight at our events - and we’re excited to give them an extra youthful, magic feel with our new unicorn pal - designed by a Lynfield College student,” says Duder. “We’re hoping to see the rainbow ribbons being used during school mufti, or in workplaces more frequently, rather than us using them mainly at our events.” The donations will go a range of different areas, primarily helping with the day-to-day costs that aren’t covered by grants - staff hours, drop-in centre costs and support services. Anyone wishing to get involved can head to ry.org.nz/fundraise to order ribbons and download fundraising resources like posters, social media photos
