Provisional figures put the money raised from Red Ribbon Day, the NZ AIDS Foundation's National Street Appeal, in the region of $52,000. NZAF Fundraiser Jonathan Smith says the total is slightly down on last year's collection, but “there was an obvious change in people's attitude and understanding of Red Ribbon Day and HIV/AIDS,” which was far more positive then before. The money will be channeled into a number of regionally-based funds which provide last resort financial assistance to financially stressed people with HIV/AIDS.
