The GABA Charitable Trust has disbursed almost $10,000 in its latest round of grants, all assisting glbti community projects associated with the Auckland Pride Festival. Proud to Play visitors are welcomed to Auckland. (Pic: GayNZ.com/Andrea) The largest single grant, of $3,000, went to assist the organisers of the inaugural Proud To Play multi-sports event currently under way in Auckland (see opening ceremony pic above). Smaller grants of $1000 and $500 were provided to assist with entries in next weekend's Pride Parade and events associated with the current Auckland Pride festival. Income for the GABA (Gay Auckland Business Association) Charitable Trust is primarily generated by the annual GABA Charitable Auction. Education grants are also made separately to tertiary students for study projects aimed at improving the lives of glbti people and to other glbti-connected causes.
