DB Breweries apologises for trans ad

Fri 5 Feb 2016 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

DB Breweries have apologised for an Old Mout Cider advertisement that many in the LGBTI community have said portrays trans women as liars. When questions were put forward to the brewery company by GayNZ.com Daily News, a statement of apology was quickly issued reading; “We would like to assure the LGBTI community that we, in no way, intended for our latest Old Mout Hard Cider TVC to cause any offence nor do we think that the issues raised by recent comments are ones to make light of. “We would like to apologise sincerely for any offence taken; we would never intentionally discriminate against or seek to offend any person or group on any basis and this absolutely includes both trans women and the LGBTI community. “We are not too “Hard” however to take the feedback on board and we will heed the words of a Facebook comment by seeking to “do better” with more sensitive and critical evaluations of our campaigns in the future.” The video is still currently posted on the Old Mout Cider Facebook. DB Beweries say anyone wishing to make a complaint about the advertisement can do so at http://www.asa.co.nz/complaints/
