Film screening to raise funds for Out in the Park

Sun 17 Jan 2016 In: New Zealand Daily News

Out in the Park are hosting a film fundraiser for this year’s Wellington Pride Festival.   With this year marking the 30th anniversary for Out in the Park, formally the Gay and Lesbian Fair, the celebrations are set to be bigger and better than ever. A special screening of Oscar nominated film, The Danish Girl, will raise funds towards marking this milestone. Based on the book by David Ebershoff, The Danish Girl is the story of the first known case of transgender surgery recorded in medical history — the story of Einar Wegener. The married painter in Denmark bravely endured a pioneering gender reassignment operation in the 1930s and later became known as Lili Elbe. Tickets are $25 and includes a glass of bubbles or juice on arrival. To book please email chair@outinthepark.co.nz. Thursday 28 January, 6.30pm Lighthouse Cuba Wellington
