Anglican Church feeling backlash of vote

Sun 17 Jan 2016 In: International News

The Anglican Church is feeling a backlash following this weeks vote to sanction a liberal US Church which supports same-sex marriage. Chris Bryant Former vicar of the Church, and out gay UK MP, Chris Bryant, has quit the Church and says the Church will one day regret making this decision. Ordained in 1986, Bryant tweeted his feelings following the vote saying: “I’ve finally given up on Anglican Church today after its love-empty decision on sexuality. One day it will seem wrong as supporting slavery.” The Church is said to have been under pressure from Churches in Africa, who are against same-sex marriage. Bryant previously boycotted the Church over its refusal to allow women to be ordained.
