A diverse range of actors, including two able to play gay roles, are being sought for a new touring theatre show, LOVE In 3 Forms. This show tells the story of three relationships, and is a snapshot in a time of crisis for each couple, gay, straight and lesbian. It is written and directed by Wanganui-based actress, playwright and musician Kat Ratcliffe, aka SHFIRE, who will also be playing a female role. Three male actors are sought for the show to play either one of two gay characters or a straight character, all roles are open to cis and trans men. Ratcliffe says she is "fearless and want to make art that reflects this... I want to save lives with my art and smash out the ginger flavour I've being holding in for so long. Let's gets funky and juice out some creative love!” The available roles are: Straight couple - David (male, aged 18 to 35) Unemployed, knows what to say to get what he wants. Is living off his girlfriend who works full time. His character is very menacing, it requires an actor able to show different masks with smooth transitions. Some of the masks are, smooth talker, the perfect passionate boyfriend, the man full of rage and hate towards his girlfriend who has done everything for him, the predator, the person who will never take responsibility for his wrong doings and is able to always pin the blame on the victim. Gay married male couple - Steven (male, aged 18 to 35) He was a virgin when he met Michael and has never being intimate with anyone, he waited until they were married to be intimate. After their honeymoon Steven starts to get sick and he can't seem to shake off his flu type symptoms he has. Michael pushes him to go to the doctors and randomly they both get a blood check which reveals their HIV status. The actor must be able to show the emotional rollercoaster of discovering their status. Gay married male couple - Michael (male, aged 22 to 40) Michael is older than Steven. He has a dark past, after going through trials and tribulations of self acceptance, he now values himself. He has a lot more life experience than his husband. This actor must be able to perform the emotional rollercoaster journey of finding out his HIV status. Accommodation, travel expenses and food will be provided to actors who need to travel for out of town performances.
