Malta to debate gay 'conversion therapy'

Malta may become the first country in Europe to outlaw gay ‘conversion therapy’. Helena Dalli Unveiling the Affirmation of Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Gender Expression Bill in Parliament, Malta’s Minister for Social Dialogue, Consumer Affairs and Civil Liberties Helena Dalli says the aim of the bill is to outlaw ‘conversion therapy’ as it is a deceptive and harmful act. The move is backed by the World Health Organisation who also believe the ‘therapy’ is dangerous to a person’s mental and physical health. The bill is currently undergoing a one month public consultation.
