The Golden Globe nominees have been announced, lesbian film Carol and trans drama The Danish Girl have made the list and will be going head to head in three categories. Lesbian drama Carol is up for Best Motion picture at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards, to be held in January. Lead actress, Cate Blanchett, has been nominated for Best Performance by an Actress: Drama alongside fellow star Rooney Mara. The most nominated film this year, Carol tells the story of Therese Belivet (Rooney Mara) and Carol (Cate Blanchett) who develop a fast bond that becomes a love with complicated consequences. Eddie Redmayne, the actor who plays a trans pioneer Lili Elbe in the film The Danish Girl has been nominated in the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture: Drama.
